Ligonier Ministries is committed to respecting the privacy rights of all parties who interact with the ministry, including donors. The following outlines our privacy policy and details the measures we have taken to safeguard and protect your privacy. Information you provide to us is understood to be in agreement with the policies detailed below. Any references to “Ligonier Ministries,” “we,” “us,” or “our” throughout this page refers to Ligonier Ministries, Inc., Ligonier Ministries Canada, and Ligonier Ministries UK.

Ligonier Ministries, Inc. and its affiliates are committed to respecting the privacy rights of all parties who interact with the ministry. This privacy policy details the measures we have taken to safeguard and protect your privacy. This privacy policy applies to the websites located at ligonier.org, connect.ligonier.org, ligonier.ca, ligonier.co.uk and Ligonier Ministries and RefNet mobile app (collectively, the “Ligonier Services”), as well as to all services and software Ligonier Ministries, Inc. offers. Any references to “Ligonier,” “we,” “us,” or “our” throughout this policy refer collectively to Ligonier Ministries, Inc. (U.S.) (“Ligonier US”), Ligonier Ministries Canada (“Ligonier Canada”), and Ligonier Ministries UK (“Ligonier UK”), unless only one of the foregoing is expressly referenced in the main body of this policy or in a country supplement (Canadian residents – please see supplement at the end of this document). This privacy policy describes the common standards of privacy protection at Ligonier and each Ligonier entity will collect, use, or disclose personal information in accordance with this policy. Ligonier may update this privacy policy from time to time with or without notice to you. When we change the policy in a material way, a notice will be posted on our website along with the updated privacy policy. By engaging with Ligonier, you signify your acceptance of our privacy policy, and we commit to abiding by it.
What information does Ligonier collect?
Ligonier collects and stores your personal information only when you provide it to us. This includes but is not limited to your name, email address, postal address, phone number, and other information that can be used to identify you. This information is ordinarily used to create an account, process a transaction, or request to receive updates. We do not store your credit card information; however, if you are a Ministry Partner or a Ligonier Connect subscriber, we use a third party to save your credit card information for your convenience.
We may also collect non-personal information automatically as you use the Ligonier Services. This information may include your browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, referring URLs, pages visited, and other usage data. We use this information internally for several purposes: (1) to personalize your experience, (2) to prevent fraudulent activity, and (3) to enhance and improve our services and products.
How do I withdraw my consent?
Please note that where you have given your consent to the processing of your personal information, you may withdraw your consent at any time, for example, by sending an email to us at service@ligonier.org, but such withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of any processing previously made on the basis of your consent.
What does Ligonier do with your personal information?
Your information is used to provide and improve the Ligonier Services, respond to your inquiries, process orders, accept contributions, and communicate with you. Also, by storing your personal information on a secure server, Ligonier can shorten your checkout process and allow you to check the status of your orders online.
If you are a supporter of Ligonier Canada or Ligonier UK (each, a “Ligonier Affiliate”) who has provided it with your personal information, please note that each Ligonier Affiliate uses Ligonier US to provide certain data processing services to the affiliate. Ligonier US will access each Ligonier Affiliate’s database in connection with certain limited, administrative functions, namely (a) to maintain an offsite back-up copy for the Ligonier Affiliate and (b) to permit Ligonier US to process and carry out mailings or other communications of materials, whether regularly or for single instances, on behalf of the Ligonier Affiliate, in accordance with its guidelines. Additionally, in the event of the occurrence of an emergency situation, Ligonier may use the Ligonier Canada database to notify the persons listed in the database of the emergency situation and the course of action proposed by Ligonier to address such emergency. Does Ligonier share any personal information it collects with outside parties?
Ligonier takes your privacy very seriously and does not trade or sell any personal information to third parties, nor does it send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. However, we may share your personal data with trusted third parties who assist us in operating our services, such as, without limitation, marketing, product fulfillment, troubleshooting, market research, advertising, website or app hosting, data analysis, customer service, resource distribution, and payment processing. These third parties also help us fulfill your requests, provide various features and services, and respond to your inquiries. We use contractual and other means to ensure that these third parties only process the information in compliance with local laws and this privacy policy.
Does Ligonier safeguard my personal information?
Ligonier has implemented a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is stored within a secure network and is only accessible by designated staff and is used for the purpose for which you provided the information. When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All sensitive information supplied by you is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and securely stored.
How does Ligonier use my email address?
Your email address is used to create and identify your account with the Ligonier Services. Your email address is also used by Ligonier to correspond with you about your orders or to keep you updated with ministry news and other information. We may also use your email address to notify you about important functionality changes to the Ligonier Services. If you would rather not receive this information or would like to opt-out of receiving emails of this kind, simply click on the “Unsubscribe” link that appears on the bottom of any email and follow the simple instructions.
Does Ligonier use cookies?
Ligonier uses technologies such as “cookies” (small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters that we put on your computer) and other similar tracking technologies (like web beacons, tags, and scripts) to help us better understand user behavior, measure the effectiveness of web searches and advertisements, and customize content and advertisements. We treat information collected by cookies as anonymous information until users log in to their account or purchase a product. However, to the extent that Internet Protocol addresses or similar identifiers are considered personal information by local law, we also treat these identifiers as personal information. Likewise, when anonymous information is combined with personal information, we treat the combined information as personal information for the purposes of this privacy policy.
To browse without cookies, you can either configure your browser to reject all cookies or to notify you when a cookie is set, or manually turn off select cookies in our Cookie Policy. Each browser is different, so check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Even if you choose to browse without cookies, you can still access most of the features of the Ligonier Services. We will ask beforehand if you accept or refuse cookies, if such cookies allow you to be identified, located or profiled.
Your Consumer Rights
You have the following rights, which you can exercise free of charge: the right to access your personal data; the right to rectify your personal data; the right to erase or delete your personal data or restrict the processing of your personal data; and the right to opt-out or withdraw consent from the processing of personal data. You have the right to receive your personal information in a structured and standard format and, where technically feasible, the right to have your personal information transmitted directly to a third party. You have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes. You may complain to the competent data protection authority regarding the processing of your personal information.
How long does Ligonier store my personal information?
Ligonier will store your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for which it was collected as outlined herein. We may retain your personal data for a period of time consistent with the original purpose of collection or as long as required to fulfill our legal obligations. We determine the appropriate retention period for personal data on the basis of the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data being processed, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of the personal data, whether we can achieve the purposes of the processing through other means, and on the basis of applicable legal requirements (such as applicable statutes of limitation).
After expiry of the applicable retention periods, your personal data will be deleted. If there is any data that we are unable, for technical reasons, to delete entirely from our systems, we will implement appropriate measures to prevent any further use of such data.
Third-Party links
The Ligonier Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. Please review their respective privacy policies before providing any personal information.
Information from children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If we learn that personal information is the information of a child under the age of 16, we will delete the information as soon as possible. At any time, parents or legal guardians may request us to correct or delete the child’s personal information. To protect the child’s privacy and security, we may require you to take certain steps or provide additional information to verify your identity before we provide any information or make corrections.
Does Ligonier provide a way to update or remove my personal information?
Ligonier provides an account dashboard feature on our website that allows you to modify personal information. This page can be accessed by clicking on your profile on the top right of the page and then clicking “Account.” All information within your profile is secure and accessible only by you or limited staff. To remove your personal information, contact our Care Team at service@ligonier.org.
How can I remove my name from Ligonier’s direct mail or email list? To have your email address removed from our list of addresses that receive information about new resources, services, sales, and promotions, simply click on the “Unsubscribe” link that appears at the bottom of any email you have received from us and follow the simple instructions.
Transfer of Information
Ligonier is headquartered in the United States of America, and this is a United States-based website and is subject to United States law. When Ligonier collects personal data of individuals located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or Canada, we may transfer such data to the United States from that Ligonier Affiliate and such personal information may be stored and maintained in a secure database in the United States. If you are a resident of a country other than the United States and provide us with your information, you consent to the transfer of your data into the United States. When we transfer your data outside the EU/UK, we endeavor to ensure your data is processed only in countries that provide an adequate level of protection for your data or where the recipient provides appropriate safeguards, such as model contract clauses, binding corporate rules or mechanisms like the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework.

Canadian Residents
This Canadian supplement along with the main body of this privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you interact with Ligonier Canada. In case of conflict between the main body of this privacy policy and this supplement, this supplement will take precedence.
Our collection of personal information is limited to that which is reasonably necessary under the circumstances, and we only collect your personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied under the circumstances, unless otherwise permissible or required by law.
Marketing and Promotional Communication
We may send you emails or text messages for marketing and promotional purposes. You may opt out any time by contacting us (see below for contact details) or using the unsubscribe mechanism in the message.
Access to Personal Information
Your personal information is disclosed only to our authorized employees who have a business need to access it, for example: our customer service center, donation processing department and personnel responsible for providing services to you. These employees can only access the personal information they require to perform their job functions.
Information Disclosures and Transfers
As described in the main body of this privacy policy, Ligonier Canada may transfer personal information to Ligonier Affiliates and other third parties for certain data processing activities, which may take place outside of Canada or the province in which you are located, including Quebec. As a result, that country’s courts, governments or law enforcement agencies could obtain disclosure of your information in accordance with that foreign jurisdiction’s laws.
Service Providers
Our service providers assist us with information technology, data hosting, and donor communications.
Whenever we hire other organizations to provide support services, they will be required by contractual and other means to conform to our privacy standards and to allow us to audit them for compliance. If you have any questions about our use of service providers, please contact us (information below).
We will not disclose personal information to any external organization without your consent unless we are required or permitted to do so by law, including in the event of a corporate amalgamation, reorganization, change of control or sale.
