Announcing Our Dedicated-Language Website in Japanese
With thanks to God, we are delighted to announce the launch of Ligonier’s new dedicated-language website in Japanese.
As the world’s thirteenth most spoken language, Japanese has speakers in many countries, including nearly half a million people in the United States and more than 380,000 in Brazil. Even still, this language is primarily spoken on the island nation of Japan, often considered the largest unreached country on earth.
As many as 98% of Japan’s 125 million people have not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Despite the work of missionaries in this nation where a Shinto/Buddhist worldview is deeply embedded, evangelical Christians make up only two out of every 1,000 people (0.2%). Needless to say, access to biblical and Reformed teaching in the Japanese language is extremely limited.
Thanks to the generosity of friends like you, Ligonier is stepping in to provide trustworthy discipleship resources in Japanese to support the church and to equip Christians for gospel outreach. Our new website, ja.Ligonier.org, makes trustworthy biblical teaching immediately accessible to Japanese speakers around the world.
Featuring historic creeds and confessions as well as the Ligonier Statement on Christology, the website offers Japanese-speaking Christians resources to be further equipped in the faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3). A selection of online articles is also available, with newly translated articles or resources uploaded every week to provide regular instruction to growing Christians. Several translated books by Dr. R.C. Sproul can also be found on the website. Ligonier’s Japanese Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts amplify the reach of these resources to spread trusted teaching that exalts the holiness and grace of God.
The launch of this dedicated-language website in Japanese is part of Ligonier’s aim to develop the world’s largest library of discipleship resources that are faithful to the historic Christian faith. By the end of 2025, we are seeking to make this teaching available in the world’s top twenty spoken and written languages. The fulfillment of this expansive outreach vision relies on the ongoing prayers and financial generosity of people like you. Thank you for giving to help translate, publish, and distribute faithful teaching in obedience to Christ’s Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.
