The Faces of Ministry at Ligonier: John Petersen

John Petersen is the Director of Development for Ligonier Ministries. We are blessed to have John’s oversight of our general fundraising efforts including the Ministry Partnership Program, direct mail initiatives, donor relations, and call center operations.

Born in Long Island, New York, John has spent most of his life in Central Florida. As a graduate from the University of Central Florida, he worked for a major retailer for many years before joining Ligonier in 2001.

“Over the years I have seen many lives changed through Ligonier Ministries’ teachings. It is exciting to see others grow in the faith and knowledge of God’s Word. In return, working at Ligonier has fueled my own spiritual growth and I have enjoyed the special fellowship of my Christian co-workers and ministry friends. Also evident is God’s hand in the protection and growth of the ministry, even during the most difficult economic times. We give thanks to our Lord and to all of our ministry friends who prayerfully and financially support Ligonier Ministries.”

At the age of 13 John was introduced to reformed theology and by God’s grace, has embraced the importance of these doctrines ever since. He met his wife Stassia while in college. Her family was part of the original staff of the Ligonier Valley Study Center in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. John and Stassia are blessed with two children, Nathan and Alayna.

John enjoys numerous outdoor activities including running, golf, fishing, and tennis. He also enjoys playing board games and outdoor sports with his children and loves to travel.
