Help Spread the Hope of Christ to the Nations

The resurrection of our Lord Jesus is the defining event of the Christian faith.
Therefore, its truth is never far from opposition in a world at war with God and His Word. From the classroom to the workplace to the latest podcast, challenges and attacks on the resurrection are all too common. Especially at this time of year.
Christians must hold fast to the message of our risen Lord. To that end, we want to send you Ligonier’s new book, Holy Week, collecting several of Dr. R.C. Sproul’s Easter-season sermons in one volume. Request this resource with your donation of any amount to Ligonier Ministries.
Dr. Sproul often reminded us of what is at stake surrounding our Lord’s empty tomb. R.C. said: “Without the resurrection, the Christian faith is futile. It is useless, a waste of time, energy, and devotion. . . . Without the resurrection, we are left with no hope. All we have to show for our pilgrimage is unresolved guilt.”
Our salvation from sin depends upon Christ’s life of perfect obedience, His death on the cross, and His triumphant resurrection. Therefore, God’s people are duty-bound to trust in, bear witness to, and defend our Lord’s work of redemption as matters “of first importance” (1 Cor. 15:3).
Ligonier Ministries seeks to bolster the global church to stand firm on the gospel of our risen Savior. By God’s grace, your support helps sustain Ligonier’s truth-proclaiming mission to strengthen Christians in their faith. Thank you for your steadfast prayers and generous support.
Underscoring the importance of Christ’s rising from the grave was a hallmark of Dr. Sproul’s entire ministry. The resurrection, he explained, was “God’s clear sign of His acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice as an atonement for our sins. Therefore, if He was not raised, we remain in our sins.”
To take away the resurrection would be to eradicate the gospel. It would mean, in the Apostle Paul’s words, that “our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain” (1 Cor. 15:14). The same is true for Ligonier. Without the resurrection, our fellowship of truth would stand on a lie. The basis for our discipleship outreach would collapse. If we had hope only in this life, we would have no reason to request your financial support. It would all be an exercise in futility.
Yet rather than wishful thinking about life after death, our faith in the resurrection is grounded in a historic reality.
The Gospels, R.C. said, are “the record of history concerning Jesus of Nazareth. His life, His death, His burial, and His resurrection were all foretold by Scripture. Testimony to His resurrection was not based on inferences or conclusions drawn from the appearance of an empty tomb. A missing corpse was not enough. The testimony was based on the appearances of Jesus alive, and not to one or two people, but to a host of people.”
Hundreds of eyewitnesses have joined in one unified declaration: “He is risen!” Therefore, our faith is not empty, and our ministry labors are not in vain (1 Cor. 15:58).
Resurrection hope animates the mission of Ligonier and all our outreaches. We press on confidently to proclaim God’s Word because our Savior lives, and He will give eternal life to all who come to Him. The risen Lord sends out His church to make disciples, and Ligonier strives to equip God’s people worldwide with trusted Bible teaching. As long as the Lord sustains our service, we will not rest until His gospel resounds among all nations.
By God’s grace, Ligonier’s advancement in this mission is a consequence of your faithful prayers and financial gifts. As our thanks for your donation of any amount this month, you’ll receive Holy Week by Dr. R.C. Sproul. I hope this book will encourage your faith and strengthen your resolve in our shared mission to proclaim God’s truth worldwide.
He is risen. Let us press forward with confidence, knowing our work in the Lord is not in vain.
